Lisa Mann Tours the Northeast with Diane Blue, June 18-23
AWARD-WINNING PORTLAND, OREGON MUSICIAN LISA MANN TO TOUR NORTHEAST WITH BOSTON’S DIANE BLUE IN JUNE
When Boston’s Diane Blue competed in the 2011 International Blues Challenge at BB King’s club in Memphis, she was competing on the same stage against Lisa Mann and her “Really Good Band” from Portland, Oregon. The two front-women admired each others work, and decided to start an East-West collaboration. Diane Blue went to the Pacific Northwest in February, and now, Lisa Mann is coming to the Boston area for a whirlwind tour with Diane Blue in the middle of June.

Lisa Mann backs up Boston’s Diane Blue in whirlwind NW tour
Soul stirring vocalist and harmonica player Diane Blue will be touring the Pacific Northwest, backed up by Lisa Mann and Her Really Good Band, Sonny Hess’ NW Womens Rhythm and Blues Revue, and Hank Shreve’s Blues Showcase. Diane is a strong vocalist, skillful harmonica player and a crowd-pleasing entertainer. Voted “Outstanding Female Singer” in The Blues Audience 2011 Readers’ Poll, Ms. Blue is a soulful and sassy performer with a strong, confident attack and energetic delivery, serving up her own spin on soul, blues and R&B. She won the2010 Massachusetts Blues Challenge, earning the honor of competing at the 2011 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. She was nominated “Best Blues/R&B Act” and “Best Female Vocalist in 2007 by the Providence Phoenixand also nominated “Best Local Blues Act” by Motif Magazine in 2007. Diane has played harmonica and/or sung with guitarist extraordinaire Ronnie Earl, as well as international performers Luther Guitar Jr. Johnson (former sideman for Muddy Waters), Big Jack Johnson (of Clarksdale, Mississippi) and Irma Thomas (the Soul Queen of New Orleans).

The Cascade Blues Association, the largest in the nation, held their annual Muddy Waters Awards in Portland OR on the evening of Nov 1st, 2012. Lisa Mann and Her Really Good Band were nominated for four awards, and walked away with Female Vocalist of the Year, Bass Player of the Year, and Contemporary Blues Act of the Year. Her CD “Satisfied” was also nominated for Northwest Recording of the Year, but that prize was garnered by Curtis Salgado’s “Soul Shot.”
Lisa also shared in Kevin Selfe’s win for Performance of the Year, as she participated in Kevin’s Big Band set at the Waterfront Blues Festival on the July Fourth weekend.
